Diagnosing a Commercial Daikin VRV Fault in Enderby
ACRC LTD was recently contacted by a commercial customer in Enderby, Leicester, reporting a Daikin VRV unit in fault. Upon arriving at the site, our initial investigation pointed to a fault related to the compressor and/or the inverter PCB.

Methodical Fault Finding & Testing
After safely isolating the system and removing the unit covers, we found that the inverter PCB had blown, leaving visible burn marks on the board. We then removed the compressor covers and connected a meg-ohmmeter to test if the compressor was "down to earth." Our compressor checker confirmed the grounding fault, meaning both the compressor and the inverter PCB required immediate replacement.

Safe Refrigerant Recovery & Precision Repair
We scheduled a rapid return visit with the new Daikin compressor and inverter PCB. Before beginning the mechanical work, all refrigerant was safely recovered and weighed into a reclaim cylinder. Weighing the refrigerant allows us to check if the unit has lost any gas over time, and reclaiming it means we can safely reuse it, saving the customer money.

Once the system was empty, we un-brazed the old compressor, brazed in the new replacement, and installed the new inverter PCB. The system was then pressure-tested, vacuumed, and recharged with the reclaimed refrigerant.

After powering the unit back on, we connected our advanced Daikin service checker to meticulously monitor the unit’s running pressures and coil temperatures to ensure peak performance. All rubbish and faulty parts were safely removed from the site and disposed of in full compliance with environmental regulations.
