Air Conditioning Compressor Change
VRV Compressor
Location: Birmingham

Customer had an issue with the office A/C system not working and the controllers flashing up in fault. The fault code referred to the outdoor inverter PCB or inverter compressor. We attended site and our A/C technician found the compressor in the VRV was seized. A new compressor was delivered to site and we weighed out all the refrigerant In the system. The system was now empty of gas and the exact charge that was stated on the unit had been recovered into a cylinder.
When changing a seized compressor, it is always wise to check the oil of the old compressor to see if it is acidic. If you don’t check this and the compressor does turn out to have acidic oil then you will find that in 6-12 months time you have another compressor fail due to the acidic oil circulating in the system. This test takes minutes to do and can save the customer and the engineer a lot of money. ACRC changed the compressor and verified that the oil was not acidic. The new compressor was then brazed into position, pipe work was pressure tested and the unit vacced and re-charged. System left up and running again.
